CREATORS & STORYTELLING

NOW IS TIME TO INVEST IN INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM,

amplify new voices by supporting emerging filmmakers, and encourage constructive dialogue around local issues by engaging in issues of civic importance. KCPBS' remodeled facility will serve as a hub for these journalists, documentarians and creators.

SERVING KANSAS CITY SINCE

1961

Our investment in their work will help us build a common language, and a shared vision that will make the Kansas City region a vibrant metropolitan area with a well informed and engaged populace. As we move into the next phase of our service to the community, we have developed funds for content excellence to help us find, grow and support the people in our community with important stories to tell. We ask you to invest in the storytelling that matters most to our community.

DOCUMENTARY FILMS

DOCUMENTARY FILMS

Through the documentaries we produce and the filmmakers we partner with, we employ a collaborative, community-driven model that places diversity, representation, and ethical relationships with storytelling at the forefront. We investigate our past and present, with a mission of understanding the forces that shape our world in the hopes of creating an informed citizenry, confident in their ability to make decisions for themselves and their communities. Whether it’s the arts, civic affairs or our history, we strive to ensure varied voices across our region are given a platform and embrace our shared aspirations and tribulations.

CIVIC AFFAIRS

CIVIC AFFAIRS

Kansas City PBS believes a focus on the investigation and discussion of important issues impacting our local communities is among the most important elements of an informed and engaged populace. KCPBS, using television and digital platforms, can bring community leaders to the table, give voice to the under-represented, and increase public awareness and engagement around issues of civic importance.

JOURNALISM

JOURNALISM

Through digital and broadcast journalism, we celebrate regional achievements, bring attention to the unmet needs of the Kansas City region and fund projects that cultivate an educated and informed electorate. As divisions widen throughout the country, Kansas City PBS calms the waters with balanced, trusted and essential coverage that builds community consciousness. Sustainable local journalism creates a more transparent, connected, and equitable Kansas City by linking residents to their neighbors, to news organizations, and to other information resources that allow them to flourish.

ARTS

ARTS

As Kansas City’s largest stage, Kansas City PBS brings the arts to life on television and online. Through local and national documentaries, we present unparalleled access to our vibrant community of artists and creators, inspiring audiences with the beauty around us. By ushering audiences through a celebration of the creative, we help secure the future of the arts in Kansas City, whether it's theater, dance, the visual arts, or music.

HISTORY & CULTURE

HISTORY & CULTURE

Kansas City PBS creates documentary films and multimedia storytelling to showcase the people and places that shape our regional identity, helping audiences to appreciate our similarities and celebrate our differences. Our storytelling celebrates the people and places that make us unique. We investigate the issues and individuals that shaped our communities and introduce audiences to unexplored histories, unexamined heroes and unmarked cultural touchstones.
