The Future of Public Media in Kansas City

Watch the transformation of the Kansas City PBS headquarters at the heart of midtown Kansas City and see the exciting changes that will create an inviting setting for important conversations, live entertainment and the future of public media in Kansas City.

IMPROVING FOR YOU

Our updated facilities, located in the heart of Kansas City, will serve the region as a hub for the creation of high-quality local news and programs that help the Kansas City region better understand and participate in its civic and cultural life. The stage is set for civic investment in Kansas City, once completed, these renovations will connect the public to content that matters to them – highlighting local artists and musicians, spotlighting business and innovation, producing in-depth reporting on issues that matter most to the community. We are excited to welcome our audience into our space.

BUILDING RENOVATIONS TO SERVE OUR COMMUNITY

Investment in Kansas City PBS is an investment in the community. Our renovated building includes spaces designed to invite audiences in for conversations and events.

Events Plaza

An outdoor space fit for making connections and engaging with the Kansas City Community.

Community Living Room

An informal meeting space to convene important conversations, explore relevant topics and experience all that public media in Kansas City has to offer.

Solar Connector

A glass-clad space inviting the community to glimpse into the heart of public media in Kansas City.

Sustainability

Kansas City PBS made a conscious decision to adapt our existing structures rather than demolishing existing buildings and constructing a new facility. This decision results in a significant reduction of embodied carbon compared to new construction.

  • Water Conservation (Low-Flow Plumbing Fixtures)
  • Energy Conservation (Passive Daylighting, Operable Windows for Passive Ventilation, Motion Sensor Lighting, Open-air Events Plaza)
  • Low-Voc Paints & Sealants

There’s something for everyone at Kansas City PBS. We invite you to imagine yourself on this journey with us and picture all that is waiting to be discovered by you.

Picture This, Kansas City!
